Earlier this year I created a LEGO version of the Betrayal play programme. I had four copies printed, and sent three of them to the Betrayal cast, via the Pinter theatre at the end of May.
On the 1st of June I attended the matinee show, and afterwards I was lucky enough to meet Tom Hiddleston and Charlie Cox, who both thanked me for the book, and said they thought it was hilarious.
When I met the lovely Mr Cox he said that he would like to get a copy of the book signed for me, and asked if I had a spare copy. I said I did, and he asked for my address, and made me swear upon Thor’s life that I would send him another copy.
When I posted the book I included a short note thanking him, and mentioning that I would be at the Saturday matinee performance the following week, but that I wouldn’t queue as I had met him and Tom already, and that I would be watching from the other side of the road instead.
Witnessing Betrayal on the closing day was magnificent, and incredibly emotional, and after leaving the theatre I joined the multitudes on the pavement opposite the stage door, in hopes of taking some photos of the cast on their final day.
As I had been asked for my address, I believed that the book was going to be posted back to me, so I was rather surprised to find myself being called to the stage door, where I was met by Charlie, as he wanted to be sure I got the book safely. I thanked him profusely as he handed me the beautiful book, now signed by the full cast, and then made my way back to the other side of the street to take photos.
I would like to thank Tom Hiddleston and Zawe Ashton for taking the time to sign my book, and to the amazing Charlie Cox for going out of his way to arrange this during a very busy time. It was an incredibly kind and very unexpected gesture that will stay with me forever.
The LEGO Betrayal Book
The LEGO Betrayal book was designed to look like the Betrayal programme, so uses the same square design, fonts, and pink and grey colours.
The book is around 20 pages long, and features my LEGO recreations of official images from Betrayal.
