Lego Loki High-Rise Tour: Day Five – High-Rise at the Phoenix Cinema

I arrived in East Finchley at the appointed hour and made my way to the beautiful Phoenix cinema.DSC_0075 DSC_0002

Inside I was greeted with a magnificent sight. The cinema foyer had been transformed into the High-Rise itself and one corner was filled with black rubbish sacks, and other items related to the film, including a 70’s video camera and cocktail glasses.

I made my way into the cinema, and took my seat on the front row, as befits my royal status.DSC_0017 DSC_0023 DSC_0025

Once more the lovely Mr Ben Wheatley was with us to introduce the film.DSC_0026 DSC_0027 DSC_0028

This was my fifth time seeing High-Rise this week. With most films you would probably feel a little bored seeing it so many times in such a short space of time, but High-Rise is different. It genuinely stands up to repeated viewing, as I found that I was always seeing new things in the film.

The Q and A sessions have also been incredibly interesting, informative and genuinely funny. I found that each session would bring new information about the filming process, and that would make me desperate to see the film again, simply so I could look out for the things that Mr Wheatley talked about.

DSC_0039This was my final Q & A screening of High-Rise, and it has been a simply incredible week. I have learnt much, and after over two years of working images related to this film I can honestly say it was absolutely worth it. The film is truly magnificent, and surpassed even my exceedingly high expectations. I believe it to be one of the greatest films that Tom Hiddleston has starred in, and I urge all fans of his to see it as soon as they are able.

I offer my thanks to everyone involved in the film and this wonderful tour. My time in the High-Rise is drawing to a close, and where Thomas leads I shall continue to follow, but this incredible film will likely remain the most special and important to me.
